As is customary, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Jules Doret NDONGO, received New Year wishes from the staff of his ministerial department and stakeholders in the forestry and wildlife sub-sectors at the Ongola hall of the Yaounde City Council.

The ceremony began in a festive atmosphere, but the mood soon turned serious as it was an opportunity to take stock of the past year and set goals for the future.

The review was presented by the Secretary General of the Ministry after the reading of the final communiqué of the Annual Conference of the Central and Decentralized Services which took place the day before in the same banquet hall.

He assessed the performance of 2025, which, despite a difficult context, has so far been able to achieve some of its objectives set for the year.

In his speech, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife praised the efforts made by the staff, while also highlighting the unwavering support of the Prime Minister's Office and the Presidency of the Republic in the constant search for solutions to the difficulties encountered by MINFOF.

He also highlighted the difficulties encountered, namely: reforestation: the lack of financial resources to achieve certain objectives; human-wildlife conflict.

Faced with the challenges of sovereignty linked to the sustainable management of forests and ecosystems, the Minister urged his colleagues and certain institutions that have helped to raise the profile of SIGIF2 internationally (the World Bank, KFW, GIZ, the United Kingdom, and Japan) to show greater determination for the year 2026.

It was an opportunity for central and decentralized staff, managers, and related services to meet and share ideas.
