On a mission to Cameroon as part of the activities of the Organization for which he is responsible, Mr. Benoit Jobbé-Duval, Director General of the International Tropical Timber Association (ATIBT), was received in audience by the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Jules Doret NDONGO, on Thursday January 22, 2026.

The audience which was attended by the Minister and his close collaborators, provided an opportunity for both teams to review the workshop to be organized in Douala by the Association, as well as concrete actions carried out in the field in favor of forest plantations within the framework of the concessions.

The Association's role is to encourage concessionaires, in accordance with regulations, to restore concession areas and exploit them by enriching logging gaps with species that will fill in the extraction that has been carried out.

This action, which has the approval of the concessionaires, is carried out through technical support during the establishment of nurseries and knowledge of seed collection.

While rightly welcoming and appreciating the actions of ATIBT both nationally and internationally, the Minister pointed out that the international timber market gives priority to wood from planted sources.

He used this opportunity to thank all partners for their support and assistance in achieving the objectives of the Forestry and Wildlife sub-sector.
