The Secretary General of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, Joseph Nyongwen, representing Minister Jules Doret Ndongo, presided over the official launch ceremony of the national validation workshop for the management plan for Takamanda and Mount Cameroon National Parks, held on January 15 and 16, 2026, at the Mont Fébé Hotel in Yaounde.

This strategic meeting, initiated by the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife with technical and financial support from the Program for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in the South West Region (PSMNR-SWR), brought together the relevant sectoral administrations, mayors of concerned municipalities, traditional leaders, youths and civil society organizations.

The first day of the workshop was devoted to the validation of the revised management and business plans of Takamanda National Park (2026-2030) at the national level.

Constructive discussions between technical directors and experts enriched the program roadmap prior to its final approval by the steering committee.

The second day focused on the Mount Cameroon Park and its peripheral zone. Mount Cameroon Park, renowned for its rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems, is subject to rigorous monitoring to ensure the conservation of the park's biodiversity while promoting the sustainable development of local communities.

This new plan will make it possible to assess the program's achievements, identify challenges, and define priorities for 2026.

After two days of fruitful discussions, the development plans and affairs of the national parks were approved.
