On Friday, November 28, 2025, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife presented his ministry’s draft budget for the 2026 fiscal year—amounting to 23,271,000,000 CFA francs—to the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly.
Accompanied by a large delegation from MINFOF, the Minister outlined the activities for which funding will be requested. These activities, classified and codified by program, include:
Recalling the procedures for requesting budget allocations from ordinary internal resources and special internal resources under Chapter 33 of the 2025 fiscal year, he presented the main components of the draft program for the forestry and wildlife subsector, along with the related provisional budget for implementation in 2026.
In response to a question regarding the date of the ban on timber exports in the form of logs, the Minister clarified that the measure is established in Article 97, paragraph 2, of the Law of July 24, 2024, on the forestry and wildlife regime. However, in accordance with the directives of the Council of Ministers of ECCAS (Economic Community of Central African States), the definitive ban has been set for January 1, 2028. Cameroon has nevertheless opted for a gradual implementation of the ban up to that date.
