The Country Director of Greenpeace Africa, Mr. Marlvin TANKON, and his delegation were received in audience on September 16, 2025, by the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife. During the meeting, which was attended by close associates of MINFOF, the Country Director presented to the Minister the new working vision of the Organization he heads, under the leadership of its Africa Director, Dr. Oulie KEITA.
In line with this vision, the NGO is now committed to working with governments to promote the sustainable management of forest resources, going beyond its most widespread image. Through this vision, the organization wishes to position itself no longer as an enemy of states, but rather as a partner in supporting technical administrations. It is in this context that it has contributed to the development of the new legal framework for forests in Cameroon, committed to supporting advocacy on climate finance at COP30, and participated in forest governance and youth mentoring.
While thanking the Minister for its participation in the Forest Cultural Show, Greenpeace pledged to work in a spirit of trust and sincerity while respecting its sovereignty. The Minister appreciated this novel approach and reassured them that his department remains open to any collaboration aimed at ensuring the right balance between development and sustainable management of natural resources.
