On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the United Hotel in Yaoundé, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, Mr. Joseph NYONGWEN, chaired the workshop to launch the dissemination of the Joint Decree No. 0162/MINFOF/MINTP/MINMAP of December 15, 2020, laying down terms and conditions for taking into account the use of legally sourced timber in public procurement in Cameroon.

The aim of this workshop was to raise awareness among stakeholders in order to put an end to the use of illegal timber in public procurement. This joint decree highlights the role of the three administrations in achieving the objectives set; MINFOF as the issuer of forestry permits and authorizations, MINTP as the state engineer and MINMAP as the regulator of public procurement. These administrations are responsible for ensuring that binding provisions are taken in favor of the use of legal timber in all tender documents so that service providers comply with them. It should be noted that this decree ultimately aims to ensure the sustainable management of timber.
