COP 30 IN BELÉM: CENTRAL AFRICA PREPARES

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Star Land Hotel in Douala, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Mr. Jules Doret NDONGO, presided over the opening ceremony of the sub-regional consultation workshop bringing together stakeholders in the sustainable management of Central African forests. The workshop aimed to prepare a joint declaration in support of Central African forests and economic development, ahead of the sub-region’s participation in the COP 30 climate conference in Belém.

In his opening remarks, the Minister commended the efforts of the various stakeholders taking part in the workshop, hosted in Cameroon, home to the COMIFAC headquarters. The main objective of the workshop was to prepare Central Africa’s contribution and joint declaration for COP 30, to be held in Belém in November 2025. Along the same lines, the Minister invited the CBFP and all participants to continue their steadfast support for this process.
