On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife presided over the official handover ceremony of the source codes of the Second-Generation Forest Information Management System (SIGIF2), held in the conference room of the ministerial department. In addition to the Minister's close collaborators, the event was attended by representatives of the BUREDIP Consortium, CENADI, MINPOSTEL, and ANTIC.
During the ceremony, the coordinator of the IA’S/BUREDIP consortium, Mr. Samuel NDONGO, and the project manager each took the floor. They delivered opening remarks and gave a brief presentation of SIGIF2 and its source codes. These source codes are sets of programs that define the core functionalities of the SIGIF2 software and enable full access to its various modules during operation.
In his address, Minister Jules Doret NDONGO emphasized that SIGIF2 is a crucial tool for ensuring good governance in the forestry sub-sector, representing a significant qualitative leap in forest information management. He also recounted the efforts and challenges encountered throughout the development process.
Although the technical handover of the source codes had already taken place on June 2, 2025, under the supervision of MINFOF’s competent departments, this official reception marked a key milestone. The Minister expressed his appreciation and congratulations to all those involved—his dedicated collaborators, the IA’S/BUREDIP development team, and the technical administrations that provided their expertise. He encouraged continued responsiveness to any necessary adjustments, stressing the importance of preserving the integrity and security of SIGIF2 and ensuring its optimal implementation.
