On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife granted an audience to Mr. Emmanuel MVE ELEMVA, President of the South Regional Council, who was accompanied by Mr. Jonathan PARTOUCHE, Chairman and CEO of the WAGAS financial group.
The purpose of this audience was to introduce the South Regional Council’s partners to the Minister, present their intention to invest in Cameroon—particularly in the South Region—and to seek the support and collaboration of the Ministry.
On this occasion, the President outlined the various projects the WAGAS group intends to finance and implement across multiple sectors, including agriculture, housing, healthcare, oil production, and wood processing. In the agricultural sector, the consortium is particularly interested in investing in cocoa processing.
With regard to wood processing and housing, the company plans to build social housing using wood-based materials through assembly plants, aiming to reduce both costs and construction time. The partners also proposed integrating this wood-based construction technology into the academic curriculum of students at the University of Ebolowa.
Minister Jules Doret Ndongo welcomed the initiative and commended all the proposed projects, which align with the national vision of promoting local wood transformation and the Head of State’s objective of ensuring decent living conditions for all. He assured his guests of the Ministry’s full support within its scope of competence and pledged to facilitate their engagement with other relevant administrations for the successful implementation of this multi-sectoral project.
