On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the Minister of Forests and Wildlife, Mr. Jules Doret NDONGO, presided over the **Annual Conference of the Central and Decentralized Services** of the Ministry at the National School of Water and Forests in Mbalmayo. Held under the theme **"Sustainable Management of Forest and Wildlife Resources: A Synergy of Action,"** the Mbalmayo conference brought together staff from the central administration, decentralized structures, and organizations under the supervision of MINFOF.
In his opening remarks, the Minister reminded participants that this event was an opportunity for exchange and sharing, enabling them to assess emerging issues and plan ahead to tackle both old and new challenges in order to achieve the objectives set for 2025.
In this regard, discussions focused on several key topics, including: the **regulatory framework for prosecuting forest and wildlife offenses** as outlined in Law No. 2024/008 of July 8, 2024, governing forests and wildlife; the **restoration of degraded forest landscapes and the fight against climate change**; as well as the **perception of governance in protected areas**.
At the conclusion of the discussions, one fact was clear: the **joint management of forest and wildlife resources requires a multisectoral approach** to address major concerns such as **combating illegal logging, protecting wildlife, and mitigating increasing human-wildlife conflicts**, among others.
