In prelude to the audience held on Monday February 25, 2025, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, assisted by his close collaborators, today, Monday March 03, received the African Development Bank Group mission visiting Cameroon as part of the financing project entitled “resilience of coastal and marine communities and ecosystems in the Gulf of Guinea”. On the agenda was the restitution of the work carried out at the end of the field visits for exchanges with the technical services and stakeholders involved in the implementation of the above-mentioned project.

In a collegial and concerted effort, the various players were able to visit sites with concrete achievements in fish conservation techniques and observe the effects of climate change on the coastal zone. The work led to the development of several activities aimed at reducing the vulnerability of ecosystems. These included the revision of the management plan for protected areas in the target zone to incorporate a climate change adaptation plan, a study of the climate vulnerability of the coastal zone, and the development of two artisanal fishing management plans based on the specificity of ecosystems and resources.

They also include the identification of marine corridors in interconnected areas, the participatory restoration of mangrove and coral reef ecosystems, the fight against invasive plants, the facilitation of access to fresh water for populations, and the inventory and mapping of the seabed. Overall, these activities are aimed at protecting and conserving marine ecosystems and promoting alternative and resilient community initiatives, with a focus on vulnerable indigenous populations and their structuring and capacity building. At the end of the audience, MINFOF reassured his guests that his ministry would do everything in its power to ensure the success of the project, for which it is the beneficiary, and for the well-being of the local population.
